Item Description
A contemporary figure carving in stained and varnished mahogany, Sentinel reflects an "exchange between figure and form," in the words of sculptor, Andrew Barlow. Barlow's sculptures "are a testimony to the variety of possibilities put forth by the human figure," and are meant to arouse the imagination.
Sentinel measures 25"(h) x 20"(w) x 13"(d) on a 2" white wooden base.
Andrew graduated from the Maine College of Art in 1985. Since returning to his native Rhode Island in 1992, he has been carving wood and stone, casting plaster sculptures and painting watercolors. He is a member of the New England Sculptors Association. Andrew works within the modern figurative genre as it affords him the freedom to interpret the use of form as a continuing exploration of sculptural possibilities.
