Item Description
For auction is this well preserved, 5 1/4" fire grenade extinguisher containing reddish-purple liquid. It is accompanied by a similarly well preserved mounting bracket with very readable lettering. The outside brace says: Shur-Stop / REG. U.S. PAT. OFF., and the plate reads, in part, "THROW AT BASE OF FLAMES, IF ABSENT, Shur-Stop WORKS AUTOMATICALLY..." Dating from the early Twentieth Century (perhaps as late as the 1920's) either the grenade nor the bracket show noticeable signs of wear. Close inspection reveals a tiny scratch on the bracket, mentioned for accuracy.
