This rare first edition set of Coopers famous novels illustrated by H. M. Brock was published in London at the turn of the 19th century. They are bound in matched fine leather and are in excellent condition. Coopers work captured the worlds attention like no other American author, thus opening the way for American literature, particularly in England and Europe. One of the volumes, The Last of the Mohicans successfully depicts the American scene at all social levels. The famous illustrations by Brock are scattered throughout the text and gave people a glimpse of the part of the world known as America. These first Brock-illustrated volumes are becoming quite rare on the market.
