Molly Waite Lund of Essex, CT is a contemporary collage artist known for her surreal, meticulously constructed compositions. Lund transforms vintage magazine imagery into scenes that reinterpret daily life and social relationships, inviting viewers to reconsider their own perceptions of reality. She constructs commentaries that bridge past and present providing both a nostalgic reflection and a contemporary critique of memory, identity, and the evolving nature of visual culture.
"Society Girls" captures the essence of vintage glamour and sophistication. Featuring elegantly dressed women against a backdrop of iconic architecture, the piece juxtaposes two classic automobiles. Meticulous layering of textures and colors creates a dynamic visual narrative, blending fashion and automotive history. The use of both monochrome and vibrant hues highlights the contrast between the past and present, inviting viewers to reflect on the timeless allure of style and elegance.
