Item Description

John Fazzino received his BFA from RISD '86 and his MFA from UMass Dartmouth '89. He has been working in ceramics since 1982, specializing in hand-built clay objects. His work has been shown nationally, but mostly in the local area. Awards include Project and Fellowship awards from RISCA, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards from the South County Art Association among others. Most of his work is focused on the garden, whether indoors or outdoors.
"Green Vessel" is a handbuilt object in a unique style using ripped clay pieces to create an undulating surface built up to form the piece. Several layers of differing glazes have been applied to give the surface a fusion of color. The process includes purposeful openings in the vessel allowing access to the inside. It will not hold water. Other uses may be found.
