Item Description
Artist Catherine Murphy’s charming mantis sculpture is also a rain gauge for your yard or garden. From whence arrived the praying mantis? From outer space, or lost Atlantis? asked poet Ogden Nash. It may look like an otherworldly creature, but this copper cutie (much like an actual mantis) is happiest in your garden. Forged by metal artist Catherine Murphy, this mischievous-looking insect is handmade to measure precipitation. Between its long front legs, it holds a removable rain gauge, making it as useful as it is charming. No wonder, as Nash put it, the mantis’ metal mug grins. Handmade in Asheville, North Carolina.
