Item Description
There are two amazing indentures in this auction; be sure to check out the other one as well!
This indenture is dated 16 May 1855 between Joseph Woods a Tobacconist, Thomas Powell, both of Preston, Lancaster, England and Robert Green Watson, Gentleman. Many other names are also on the document. There are two seals at the bottom and the top has the "indented" cuts that prove that two documents match because they fit together.
In researching this indenture, a certified genealogist fouund proof that these people did live in Preston during this time. (Pictured is one of the documents that was found, a newspaper notice listing Robert Green Watson in 1855. This is not part of the auction, but just for verification).
This is an unusal document because there is a plan drawn on it. It is drawn in color and would look beautiful framed. It measure approximately 31"x25" long.
Donated by Mr. and Mrs. Randall Scott, dear friends of Constituting America!
