Item Description
12 X 16 Oil on Canvas
Sturm, retired since 2010, taught high school stagecraft, speech and English for 37 years; 34 of them at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis.
One of my favorite oil paintings is one of my oldest. I’ve done hundreds of paintings over the years, but I painted the USS John Paul Jones (a destroyer from WWII) and won a grand prize with it at the Hancock County 4-H Fair in 1968. I took it to the State Fair and received a purple ribbon there, too. For a time, it hung in an office at Greenfield Jr. High School, and it hangs in my personal study today.
