Item Description
The game of padel originated in Acapulco, Mexico, in 1968, and spread to South America, Europe and the Middle East over the next few decades. The game has recently exploded across Europe, and has now taken a foothold in the US, particularly in warm climates. Presently, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota each have one facility with padel courts, with TC Padel hosting the only courts in Wisconsin. Padel is commonly described as a blend of tennis and squash, with the glass walls behind and in the corners of the court in play after the ball bounces. The turf surface is easy on the legs, and the 18” racquet (1.5” thick) is mainly comprised of carbon fiber and EVA foam. A padel ball is essentially the same as a tennis ball, and the solid feel of striking the ball initially puts a smile on the face of most racquet sports enthusiasts. It’s an addictive game that is conducive to longer rallies requiring lots of movement. We’d love to have you give it a try!
