Item Description
American artist Anton Kamp (1898-1984) was a landscape painter who studied under both John Singer Sargent and N.C. Wyeth. Kamp was also a member of The Thoreau Society. He delivered a talk about N. C. Wyeth to The Thoreau Society on July 7, 1951. This oil on canvas painting depicts Henry Thoreau sitting at his house at Walden Pond. As far as we can tell, it is signed but not titled or dated. The canvas measures 18 x 25 inches; framed, it is about 24 x 31 inches, placed in a heavy wood frame. The frame has sustained a bit of storage damage, in the middle of the bottom edge where it meets the canvas. See photos for more information.
