Item Description

This 8 ½” x 6 ½” diameter by 3 ½” height rare polychrome Pima square Willow basket depicting saguaro cacti with red fruit. The red in the fruit was derived from a plant called Limberbush or Sangre de Dragon which crew along the banks of the Gila River. The technique in weaving a square basket is very difficult, the weaver of this stellar piece was remarkably adroit. Circa 1930. The description and appraisal of value is provided by Terry DeWald, a member of the Antique Tribal Art Dealers Association.
