Item Description
Taste the elegance of Calistoga's excellent winemakers from Tamber Bey Vineyards including:
2022 Chardonnay, Deux Chevaux Vineyard
This wine has an opulent texture and the aromatic complexity to match. Rich, expressive notes of mandarin, jasmine, caramelized sugar, pineapple and ripe guava coat the mouth and linger long after each concentrated sip. The wine is composed of our very best fruit from our six estate-owned vineyard blocks. Each clone contributes its own unique flavors and attributes to the final cuvée, which is rounded out by 14 months’ aging in pristine French oak barrels, with just enough lees stirring to add richness to the midpalate without sacrificing fruit intensity.
2021 Merlot, Deux Chevaux Vineyard
This elevated Bordeaux-Style blend, Vermejo, is a masterful, best-of-barrel blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 2% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot.
92 points
2021 Pinot Noir, Mes Filles Vineyard
Originally planted under the expert guidance of Sonoma’s legendary winemaker Greg LaFollette in 1998, the Mes Filles (French for “my daughters”) vineyard is one of the more extraordinary places to grow Pinot Noir in Sonoma County. It technically sits on land overlapping the Sonoma Coast and Russian River AVAs, but we choose to use the “Sonoma Coast” appellation due to the behavior of the terroir here. The site is perched on a hill near the fog line, and as such stays wet and cool throughout the year. Wind formed from the Petaluma Gap constantly pummel the vines, causing the fruit to grow thicker skins, resulting in beautiful tannin structure. Cold air and wind also keep yields tiny. This benefits the fruit profile of the wine, pushing an array of brighter and darker berried fruits across the palate.
The 2021 is quite complex. There is a certain smoked meat/gaminess component to the nose that plays well off the more restrained brighter berried fruit profile. 25% stem inclusion during fermentation created structure and pleasant stemminess, which adds layers everywhere. The smokiness on the nose pushes seamlessly through to the palate, and blackberry and cherry cola also appear. The finish is round and soft, with acidity there in support of silky tannin and ripe fruit flavors.
2021 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
The Oakville Estate Vineyard delivers that lust for an uber ripe rendition of this noble grape and the true nature of the famous Oakville Appellation. Aromas of dark mixed berries, blackberry pie, bay leaf, chocolate-covered espresso beans, toffee, and black tea leaf serenade the senses. The midpalate brings the minerals of the complex valley floor of Oakville that pushes into a velvety texture with mixed berry flavors supported by firm and fine-grain tannins. Rich and full, this Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon is incredibly age-worthy.
92 points, James Suckling: Blackcurrants and blackberries with hints of eucalyptus, walnuts and cedar on the nose. Full-bodied with firm but polished tannins and a smooth, lengthy aftertaste. Delicious fruit coming through.
