Item Description

When you hear the word "surfing," you may think oceanside, but think again. Freshwater surfing is a thing, too, only instead of relying on an ocean's naturally forming waves, it relies on the waves created by a motorboat. Let Kyle Winton of Surf 423 introduce you with this 2 hour surfing lesson. You will LOVE it!

Wakesurfing is similar to wakeboarding in how you get yourself into position. Place the board parallel to the back of the boat, which must not have any propellers.

Though you’re not strapped to a wakesurf board, the position of your feet is the same: perpendicular to the side of the board, with your lead foot really close to the back of the board and both heels planted in the middle. To determine your lead foot, have someone gently push you backward.

Whichever foot you step back with is your lead foot. Once your board is situated, hold on to the tow rope, and you’ll basically be pulled up until the board is under you as the boat slowly yet swiftly drives away … if you have a good captain.

The key, then, is to ride the base of the wave that’s created by the boat. Where the nose of the wakesurf board is pointed is where you’ll go. Your front foot is the gas; your back foot is the brake, and, with a little seesaw action, also serves to keep the board from nose-diving into the water piling up around you.
