Valérie d. Walker is a Neo-Renaissance Transmedia Artists, Alchemyst, Indigo Griot, Educator and Curator based in Vanocuver. An Afrofuturistic time traveler, V's art practice interweaves enviro-positive natural indigo dyeing, hand-shaped resist patterning, solar-power, story-telling, epigenetic memories, quotidian actions, sensorially immersive fibre-based installations, magical surrealism, Black Panther-esque community empowerment, techno-feminism, Eco-Sexual Queer Activism and Guerilla-Grrrl DIY powers. V's Digi-Femme radio show XXFiles, now ffFiles, celebrates 24+ years on CKUT.CA (Mtl 90.3 FM) and Soundcloud. Valérie landed on Gaia in Honolulu and has travelled the planet in space and time. V's artwork was featured in Vancouver Specail: Disorientations and Echo at the Vancouver Art Gallery, catalogue available now.
Image description: A collaged image featuring a portrait of a mixed heritage Black woman with shorter red-brown curly hair held back by a pink and white visor. She wears a hand dyed indigo shirt underneath a blue hawaiian shirt decorated with images of palm trees and guitars. She has a warm smile on her face and stands in front of a plain white wall. In the bottom right corner is an Ilford brand disposable camera and two manila envelopes, one with a large black question mark on its front.
