Rebecca (Becky) Bair is an interdisciplinary artist and educator based in Vancouver - the traditional and ancestral territories of the Coast Salish peoples. Her research aims to explore the possibilities of specific representation and of identity through non-figuration. Bair’s artistic, professional and educational goals revolve around common themes of celebrating Black plurality, as well as enabling interpersonal and intercultural care. Her work acts as a vehicle through which the complexities of history and identity can be uncovered, redefined and expressed.
Image description: A collaged image featuring the portrait of a young Black woman with neck-length curly black hair wearing a black boat neck top and pearlescent crecent-shaped earrings. She smiles, exuding a kind presence, and stands in front of a peach-coloured wall. At the bottom is an Ilford brand disposable camera and two manila envelopes, one with a large black question mark on its front.
