Item Description
Original photography by renowned photographer, Merle Wasson.
19" x 16" Photo on canvas.
Triple framed: internal frame of burnished gold is 1/2" surrounded by a 1.5" brown frame with final wood frame measuring 2". Stunningly captures the person, work and culture of tribal life. The Navajo are a matrilineal society: when they introduce themselves, they do so by clan, leading with the mother's clan, which children take as their own. Navajo women are the center of the family, the keepers of wisdom and conservators of ancestral teachings. [Excerpt: The Guardian, 20 November 2020]
