Artist: Mary Alice Owens
Mary Alice Owens lived in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey for 23 years. During the summers from 1960-1972, she vacationed with her family until permanently living in Chatham in 1973. She and her husband of 41 years, David have three children, a daughter and two sons. She has always loved to create. From her grandmother, who taught her fused glass in 1970, to teaching the children’s art classes at the Chatham Art Center, designing and building Girl Scout floats for the 4th of July parade, scenery for church events and working in several local flower shops during the time her children were attending their middle and high school years. She returned to college and in 2007 received a Bachelor of Fine Arts- Art Education, Summa Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts at North Dartmouth. Now she gardens, scrapbooks, travels and enjoys her family.
"I had fun painting my first whale this year. My half of the money raised from my whale will go to the Ken Owens Memorial Soccer Jamboree Scholarship Fund. I hope many people will enjoy my whimsical whale. "
