Artist: Heather Smith Labbe'
Heather Smith Labbe grew up in Chatham and her family still all reside here.
She had great art teachers in the Chatham Schools, such as Harry Holl, Vito Samartino and she also used to visit on a daily basis, Wendell Rogers a well known Chatham Artist, while delivering his news paper every day. They would sit and talk about art or the project he was painting at the moment. It was a unique and very educational experience, and he was an exceptional mentor.
Heather is also the president and founder of New England Lab Rescue, a non profit dedicated to saving the lives of labs who are in danger in the south, and placing them in loving adoptive homes allover New England were they thrive, Thus far she and her team have rescued about 5000 labs since 2010.
She is heard to quote … “ Get a Life… Adopt a Lab.” !
