Artist: Cate Raphael
Cate Raphael has been a year round resident of Nantucket since 1978. She is a professional artist whose mission as an artist is to preserve the uniqueness, serenity and beauty of the landscapes/seascapes she walks.
She infuses each painting with peace, serenity and joy. Collectors have shared with her that this is how they feel when standing before them. Cate seeks inspiration from peaceful, open spaces, then transfers that onto the canvas. Her style is uniquely her own, and could be considered nontraditional contemporary realism. She has been a professional artist showing in galleries since 2010.
Her favorite medium is oil on canvas and is attracted to a subject by shape, color, light and anything out of the ordinary! Her inspiration comes from peaceful, open spaces. Wether it is a winding sandy road, a long expanse of beach, or the endless vista’s of the ocean at sunset, this is where she likes to spend her time, absorbing the beauty and serenity of it all. She transfers these magical moments onto the canvas through her unique perspective, for you to experience. Her love for nature is reflected in her paintings.
She has shown her works in several prestigious galleries on Nantucket, and is an active member of the Nantucket Artists Association since 2010. Cate served on the Gallery Board for many years and is represented at all of their Galleries.
