"Set A Course For Home" by Peter Schalck

Artist Statement:
Using a black acrylic paint pen, I tried to capture the essence of Marblehead and its lobster fishing heritage. I used washes of watercolor acrylic to introduce color and depth. I sculpted the whale's teeth with clay, painted with a watercolor wash and coated with polyurethane.
Artist Biography:
Pete Schalck studied at the Art Institute of Boston for 3 years then transferred to Mass Art, majoring in Communication Design. He opened Flat Rock Creative a web and graphic design firm based in Marblehead. Today, Flat Rock Creative works together with Marblehead Mercantile, a new retail store.
