MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, Directed by Kevin Kern

June 21-23, 28-30 and July 5-7, 2024

Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy by William Shakespeare set in the sunny town of Messina. The story revolves around the witty and tempestuous relationship between Beatrice and Benedick, who engage in a battle of wits and repartee, initially masking their true feelings for each other. Meanwhile, the young and idealistic Claudio falls in love with Hero, and their impending marriage becomes the center of a malicious plot by the villainous Don John to sow discord and ruin reputations. Deception, misunderstandings, and comedic elements ensue, but ultimately, true love triumphs as the characters unravel the schemes and find happiness. With its clever wordplay, vibrant characters, and exploration of themes such as love, honor, and the nature of deceit, Much Ado About Nothing stands out as one of Shakespeare's most favorite comedies.

ROMEO & JULIET, Directed by Elizabeth Swain

Romeo and Juliet, a timeless tragedy that unfolds in the Italian city of Verona, highlights the passionate love between Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, members of two feuding families. Despite the hostility between their households, Romeo and Juliet secretly marry, but their happiness is short lived. A series of unfortunate events and impulsive decisions lead to a tragic end. The play explores themes of love, fate and the destructive consequences of hatred. With its poetic language, memorable characters and poignant storyline, this play has been the basis for numerous movie adaptations.
