Item Description
Purchase a specialized bike and helmet for an SAS student as part of our Outride Riding for Focus curriculum.
During their Physical Health and Education hour, our 6th graders are embarking on Outride’s Riding for Focus curriculum: a program designed to “promote cycling as an outlet for students to improve their cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional well-being.”
The founder of Outride and the CEO of Specialized, Mike Sinyard, started the program when he noticed the impact of cycling on his focus. As someone who has dealt with the impact of ADHD his whole life, Mike noticed an immediate change and improvement in his symptoms after going for bike rides and started a study, and the Outride program, to explore the difference Riding for Focus could make in the lives of middle school students.
This program also connects our students with a nationwide study to prove the impact of cycling on focus in the classroom and assist in furthering Outride’s mission across the country! Check out more about Outride here: https://outridebike.org
We are excited that this program, championed by Mr. Charley Pelissier and Ms. Samantha Medeiros, will help our middle schoolers get active outside the classroom — in order to boost all the special things that happen inside the classroom!
