About Barry:
I have been a private piano teacher for the past 25 plus years. I give 1 hour lessons at the student's home. Although I have a particular specialty in teaching beginners, I have taught ages from 5 to 89.
THE LINEAGE: I studied with Leonard Shure (over 8years), who studied with Schnabel, who studied with Leschetizky, who studied with Czerny, who studied piano with Beethoven.
When choosing a teacher it's all about who has the knowledge/information... and I do. Not all teachers are created equal. I learned more in that first lesson from my last teacher than all of the years of lessons prior to that.
Bio:
Barry Neikrug comes from an illustrious musical family. His mother was a child prodigy cellist, playing her first concert at age 7. His father, George Neikrug, is considered one of the top 3 cellists of his generation. Marc Neikrug, his brother tours, with Pinchas Zuckerman as his accompanist. His grandfather was the conductor for Russian Tzar Nicholas II. Barry studied under Leonard Shure who was a protégé of Schnabel in Berlin in the 1930s. Schnabel’s lineage traces back to Beethoven. Barry has performed extensively on national tours. After performing his own one-man show, Searching for a Genius Piano Teacher, he went on a national tour with the hit Canadian show, Two Pianos/Four Hands.
