Item Description
The soils of Snows Lake Vineyard are the classic volcanic, red grape soils of the Mayacamas, which have become famous through such vineyards as Diamond Creek in the Napa Valley, some fifteen miles away. These well-drained gravelly loams are so red in color that they have given their name to one of the North Coast’s newest AVAs: Red Hills Lake County.
This item contains a pair of Snows Lake Cabernet Sauvignon wines, the 2004 Red Hills Lake County “One” and the 2004 Red Hills Lake County “Two.”
“One” is a Cab with Bordeaux-like cassis, cedar, pencil lead and smoky oak flavors balanced by pure, crisp acids, but the tannins are very dry.
The "Two" is a Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend from Snows Lake. Wood smoke and pine aromas contrast this wine's deep, fruity nose and palate. Firm tannins envelop this wine right now, so decant or cellar to give them time to soften a bit.
