Item Description
This item consists of two different prints of paintings by local artist Neal Matsuyama. The prints are:
1. "The Church at Waioli"
2. "The Koloa Tree Tunnel"
The architecturally significant Waioli Church, built in 1837 by early Christian missionaires Abner and Lucy Wilcox, is a well known landmark in Hanalei. Artist Neal Matsuyama beautifully captures the church, nearby social hall and overall serenity of Hanalei. The limited edition 8” x 10” print (matted 11” x 14”) will be welcome on any wall. One who has visited the church will recall a fond memory. One planning their first Kaua’i visit will want to include it on their list.
"The Koloa Tree Tunnel" is a well-known feature that anyone traveling to Koloa will be familiar with. The tunnel was created using eucalytus trees donated by Alexander McBryde in the early 20th century. In artist Neal Matsuyama’s 8” x 10” limited edition print (11” x 14” matted), one enters the well known Tree Tunnel, the welcoming gateway to Kaua’i’s South Shore. In a rare sighting, a Kaua’i jungle fowl family enjoys a stroll under massive eucalyptus robusta trees.
The artist's brushwork accurately captures myriad details in both scenes (including our ubiqitous chickens!) and the prints could be mistaken for photographs by a casual observer.
