Artist Bio:
Doug Almoney is a 1961 graduate of Oakwood High School. He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, had a 3 year military tour with the US Army, and returned to Oakwood to begin his dental practice. He and Anne have 3 children and 4 grandchildren who attended Oakwood schools. His passion for the beauty of wood and woodworking began in Junior High shop class taught by Mr. Cato. He has been a furniture builder for many years but has concentrated his woodworking on wood turning for the last 15 years. The various natural colors and textures of the wood is what inspires his work. This bowl is turned from spalted beech from Drummond Island, Michigan and trimmed with cherry.
