Barbara Corrigan (1922-2012) was a life-long Attleboro resident and graduated from Mass College of Art & Design in 1944. She illustrated cookbooks, Yankee magazine covers and Highlights' magazine covers. Attleboro residents know Corrigan for her notecards which were copies of her well over 400 paintings. Corrigan exhibited at the Boston Athenaeum, Ainsworth Gallery, Alfred J. Walker Gallery, Copley Society, the Boston 350 Show and the Attleboro Arts Museum. Her work is held in private and corporate collections world-wide.
Although this painting was completed in 1998, it may have been painted using an earlier photo of Boston Harbor or Corrigan may have used artistic licence in what to include and what to delete in the image. In other words, the harbor you see in this painting may not be the harbor as it is seen today. The old vessel shown to the left is a replica of the Boston Tea Party ship.
