Item Description

This unique box is made from a variety of African Hardwoods - Wenge, Bloodwood and African Maple.  Specially signed by the skilled and talented woodcrafter.

The beautiful lid features wenge wood as a center inlay with a boarder made of blood wood (which has a bright, vivid red color which comes the tree sap).  This type of wood is commonly used for inlays and trims. The color can darken to a darker brownish red over time with exposure to light.  Apply a thick protective finish, and keeping the word out of direct sunlight can help slow this color shift.

The box itself is crafted with African Maple Wood that is three-eighths of an inch thick and has a unique artistic feature located on each of the four corners.  The interior has a black fabric lining to protect the treasures within.

This piece is 3" in height with a base of 6" in width (on all sides) as it tapers to a 5 ΒΌ" width at the top of the box (on all sides).

Wenge Wood is from Africa and native to the Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.  The species is listed as "endangered".

Bloodwood is native to southern Africa in Angola, Mozambique, Nambia, South Africa, Eswatini, Zaire, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.  It is a protected tree in South Africa.

African Maplewood is native to Western Africa.
