Item Description

This piece is part of the Robe series.

Measurements: 13"wide x 17" tall x 2.5" deep. Ready to hang on your wall.

Clay Artist Pat Lickly begins her work with water-based clay, which she stamps or draws into. The patterns may come from found objects or stamps found in her travels. Then she places the piece in plastic wrap to dry slowly. This very important aspect of slow drying prevents any cracking. The first firing is bisque (low heat) which makes it durable. She then glazes and fires the piece. Pieces are  embellished with stones, beads, coins, metals, or found objects. Each piece is unique and can take days or weeks to complete.

About: Pat Luckily

"As an avid mover of earth in the garden, small wonder that the tactile feel of clay drew me into hand built, decorative ceramics.  More recently, I've transitioned into mixed media, with an occasional foray into the abstract realm.

I often imbue graphic symbolism from distant cultures into my art work which lends a sense of ethnic identity. Found objects like coins, beads, stone and metal add an earthy, real world authenticity. Historically I have used the iconic robe image in my ceramic work which also emerges in my figurative pieces."
