About the Artist
Staci Leech-Cornell is an artist and illustrator who has honed her trademark mixed-media style in her dynamic works that channel themes from her youth. In her art, she recalls nostalgically the rural wildlife and storybooks filled with anthropomorphic characters, the ceramic bird knickknacks, and the billowing imagination that fuelled her youthful curiosity and undoubtedly contributed to her eventual pursuit of a career as an artist. She often blends layered paper with her illustrative linework in black ink or graphite that she then illuminates with watercolors and gouache.
Based in Nitro, WV, Leech-Cornell obtained her MA degree in sculpture from Marshall University in 2007. Exhibiting nationally before completing her degree, Leech-Cornell continues to grow her solo and group exhibition experience. She created Still Maybe Studios in 2011 and her work has been featured in Uppercase Magazine, WV Living Magazine, and VICE.com
