Item Description

Handmade very handsome original wood sculpture titled "The Tetons", made in rare spalted maple and other mixed woods by well known Cape Cod artist Russell Karasik.

Russell specializes in Entropic Art which only very minimally alters the beauty found in nature.  All of the wood he uses has been rescued from the tide lines, his own property, or scrap woods.  Each piece tells its own story and unique history.

The spalted maple in the sculpture contains amazing black lines and colors formed by the competing fungi as the wood decayed.  It is dried and sealed in a polycrilic finish, and stands on a thick hexagonal wood base.

For thousands of years, artists have used wood as a medium.

Signed, titled and dated on the underside of the base.

Size-15 inches high by 15 inches wide at the widest points of the base by 7.5 inches deep at the base.

This one of a kind piece would look great on a desk, table or bookshelf.

A great gift for the nature lover and those who appreciate art made using natural materials.
