Item Description

An encaustic on wood piece by Connecticut artist Joan Harvey

Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using a heated encaustic medium to which colored pigments have been added for creating artworks. Molten medium is applied to a surface—usually prepared wood, though canvas and other materials are sometimes used.

The very thought provoking wording appearing on this piece is "Je suis desole," and "banished from the dreams of other men."

Joan is an award winning artist, working and living in rural Connecticut. She spent many years in the San Francisco bay area, as well as on Cape Cod. Her work has been inspired by the hum of Silicon Valley as well as the relaxed vibe of the Cape.

Size 16 inches by 16 inches.
