Item Description

3 bottles of delightful Pinot Noir AND two free tastings at their Healdsburg Tasting Room located near the Healdsburg Plaza (340 Center St., Healdsburg, CA).

Cartograph is known for small-lot, elegant Pinot Noir; dry Alsace-styled Riesling; and sparkling wines from acclaimed Northern California appellations including the Russian River Valley and Mendocino Ridge. Owners Alan Baker and Serena Lourie designed and built the tasting room to be the culmination of this region’s legendary wine experience, bringing guests together in a modern and welcoming space that spotlights masterfully crafted wines available by the glass, by the bottle or on tap.

2018 CARTOGRAPH ESTATE POMMARD CLONE PINOT NOIR

Tasting Notes:

The Pommard clone Pinot from the Cartograph Estate is a lively and fruit forward youngster. Plentiful Bing cherry and violet aromatics with supporting cedar and even cinnamon notes. On the palate it is vibrant showing red fruits like cranberry and raspberry along with richer fruits like plum and melon. There are plentiful tannins that give it great structure and a long finish.

2016 TRANSVERSE PINOT NOIR

Tasting Notes:

We hold the Transverse blends back a couple more years than most of our releases to allow the complexities of the blend to harmonize and integrate. On the nose, this wine is still holding onto a soft strawberry note and has developed a pleasant aroma of dried fall leaves. It is angular and bright on the palate with cranberry and pomegranate giving it a pop of bright red fruit leading to a very silky palate coating finish. This 2016 Transverse is very balanced right now and will add palate weight as it ages.

2018 CARTOGRAPH ESTATE 115 CLONE PINOT NOIR

Tasting Notes:

Aromatically this wine is decidedly earthy with herbal notes of cut grass and thyme. With a little more attention you can pull out a slight floral thread that reminds us of honeysuckle and citrus blossom with a hint of black cherry. There is also a bit of sea breeze. This is a taught wine that will open up with time in bottle or with time open on the counter if you can't wait. The palate shows dried apple and pear along with fresh strawberry and almond paste making this a good wine for lighter red meats and dishes that lean towards earthy flavors like mushroom and truffle.
