Item Description
Beautiful Pysanka Ukrainian Easter Egg with display ring and gift box.
Fish are the ancient symbol for Christ, Fisher of Men. The blue background denotes water, sky, truth, fidelity and good health.
An egg decorated in the Ukrasinian tradition is called a "pysanka" from the Ukrainian word meaning "to write". The egg design is written freehand on a fresh, raw egg with a kistka, a tool that melts and holds beeswax in a small funnel. All the white lines and areas are waxed first. Next, the egg is repeatedly dyed and waxed, light colors to dark, until the design is complete. Finally, the wax is removed and the egg varnished. Once dry, it is emptied, cleaned and sealed.
Local pick up or shipping charges will be added to winning bid.
