Item Description

In 1933, the Civilian Conservation Corps was formed as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal programs to help alleviate the impacts of the Great Depression, providing a voluntary public work relief program. The majority of individuals who participated in the CCC were young unemployed men, ages 18 to 25. The CCC proved to be the New Deal's most popular program. Enrollees learned the basic concepts and implemented projects related to forest management and protection, trail building, range and wildlife management, fish stocking, and more. The program ran from 1933 to 1942. This manual provides a wonderful view of the CCC program and the time period.

This book is the CCC enrollee training manual printed in 1937 was written by by A.G. Kylie, H.R., Hieronymus, G.H. & Hall, and printed by the US Government Printing Office. It is in excellent condition; inside front cover bears the name John De Witt Warner.

A great addition to the collection of a forester or anyone interested in New Deal era history.
