Item Description
Consciousness in Concord: The Text of Thoreau's Hitherto "Lost Journal" (1840-1841), Together with Notes and a Commentary, by Perry Miller. Houghton Mifflin Company, 1958. Second printing. Hardcover, 243 pp. This copy is missing its dust jacket, and the spine and back cover need some glue and attention. Otherwise, it is of average age. This is the book that made up for the journal volume that was missing when Houghton Mifflin published the 20-volume set of Thoreau's writings in 1906. As such, it's a valuable addition to the Thoreau reference shelf.
