Item Description
Two spots in the Saturday, August 8, 2020 pie class and farm tour at Bow Hill Blueberries. 11am - 4pm.
Wouldn't it be great to bring a farm-made blueberry pie to those summer picnics or gatherings? Join former five-year CNW staff member Rachel and her mother (an avid supporter of Nor'wester) as they teach you a thing-or-two about making organic blueberry pies. Since Rachel's last summer with Camp in 2016, she's been working for Bow Hill Blueberries in the Skagit Valley.
During the class, you'll get the chance to tour the 6-acre farm and learn how to make an entirely-from-scratch blueberry pie. You'll hit the organic blueberry fields and hand-pick the berries yourselves. You will assemble the pies in the historic Mink House (you'll learn more about the name on the tour) and discuss trends bakers are using to naturally color pie crust with Bow Hill's organic heirloom blueberry powder and juice.
You'll leave Bow Hill with a ready-to-bake pie, baking instructions, crust and pie recipe for future use, a new pie plate (which your new pie will be in), pastry cutter, box to transport pie, and rolling pin.
Additional perks include a tasting of Bow Hill's entire line of organic blueberry products and a 10% off coupon to use in the farm store the day of the class (Bow Hill's farm-made line, merchandise, frozen berries, ice cream, and popsicles).
Vegan and/or gluten-free options are available. Click here to see more photos or go to https://www.bowhillblueberries.com/collections/all-products/products/pie-class.
