Item Description
I’m excited to share a case of some of my favorite wines with one lucky winner. Here is what you can expect:
First up, I love Chardonnay. Not the buttery, oaky kind but wines that are made in a fresh, balanced and mineral style from cooler climate vineyards. You’ll find three great examples of those from small wineries in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Rita Hills near Santa Barbara. As far as white wine goes, these are hard to beat for me, but an old German Riesling does it all the time. Just slightly sweet, light on their feet and with nice acidity, these age exceptionally well and pair well with food on a hot summer day. On to reds, I love California Pinot Noir and you’ll love the wines included here. One of them is a Sea Smoke “Ten”, which is probably one of the most sought after Pinot Noir trophy wines in California. And while I love Pinot Noir, I will say that sometimes a Cabernet Sauvignon is a nice change of pace, especially with food hot off the Kingsford charcoal grill. The Hartwell Reserve included in this case is from one of my favorite vintages, 2005, and a rare treasure at that. Moving on, I love road trips through California, and I always hunt for lesser known varietals from very small wineries that make wine with passion and authenticity. I hope you’ll enjoy the Syrah and the Mourvèdre from the Sierras included here. I’m also an amateur winemaker myself. I want to reintroduce people to the original California grape, Zinfandel. Joseph Swan is a winery I admire and their Zinfandel is fantastic, especially when aged like this 2003 Stellwagen Vineyard. Lastly, I thought that I share an example of a beautiful example of Cote de Brouilly. I love French wines in general and Cru Beaujolais in particular. Awesome now or in 20 years and, at under $30, one of the best wine values in the world. And at Clorox we are all about superior value, aren’t we? Enjoy!
