Artist's Statement:

Art is how I feel, and my expression is my connection. If I am connected, I am feeling. The significance of art is having a choice without any attachments. it is a piece of me that is meant to be left behind in order to continue growing.

Sara Guryan Galkin, aka gUrsLa, lives with her husband and 3 children in Brooklyn, NY. She is an abstract painter, exhibiting artist and teacher. Her approach to teaching centers around making mistakes, being present and enjoying the frustration of not knowing. Working primarily with adolescents and teens, Sara focuses on self-reliance, making mistakes and embracing that moment when we let go of thinking. Being a human being is all about making "beautiful mistakes". Often our best work comes from our beautiful mistakes that lead to our best discoveries.

Sara has a BFA from Washington University, where her concentration was glass blowing and studio art.

Her work in progress can be seen on Instagram @gursla Website www.gursla.com
