Item Description
DOUBLE-SIDED PRESENTATION QUILT made from Pacific Northwest Wool.
48" X 64" - Soft wool patches in many colors from the Portland (Oregon) Woolen Mills. The patches were remnants from woolen skirts and blazers made by the Western Star Manufacturing Company of Seattle, c.a. 1960. The double-sided construction is rare and provides extra warmth.
The quilt was designed and stitched by Western Star’s senior seamstresses. The finished quilt was presented to William McColloch, the company’s owner, upon his retirement in 1970. His son John was at Henderson Camp in the late 1950’s, and his granddaughters, Elizabeth and Jenny, attended Camp Nor'wester, first on Sperry and then Johns Island. The camp experience of father and daughters collectively spanned 28 seasons.
Please note: Spencer Spit, the cat, does not come with the quilt.
Item Special Note
John McColloch is a former camper, and he and Brookie McColloch are the parents of former campers and staff members.
