Item Description
Beguinage, Brugge is a wood drypoint engraving on Whatman paper of this peaceful convent. A beguinage, from the French term béguinage, is an architectural complex which was created to house beguines: lay religious women who lived in a community without taking vows or retiring from the world. This piece exudes calm and contemplation. It was printed and framed by the artist, Bobby Donovan. Mr. Donovan is a highly regarded artist whose work is in numerous public and private collections including the National Gallery of Art, The Smithsonian American Art Museum, and The Baltimore Museum of Art, among others. The etching is matted in a chrome frame and measures 24" X 18".
