If you’re ready for a totally unique outdoor experience, its time to Go Ape! Way more than just zip lines, Go Ape is a 2-3-hour journey through the forest canopy as you take on suspended obstacles, Tarzan swings and breathtaking zip lines – all with an incredible view.

Park visitors (ages 10+) can zip, swing and climb through the trees on a treetop adventure course!  Go Ape is a great outdoor adventure for families, friends and groups. The course is set within a gorgeous pine forest and borders Pine Lake, one of the Shelby Farm Park's 20+ bodies of water.  Your group will be equipped with harnesses, pulleys and carabiners, given a 30 minute safety training, and then let loose into the forest canopy, free to swing through the trees.

Of course, instructors are always on hand, regularly patrolling the forest. The course is made up of six individual sections, each section taking you higher into the forest canopy and finishing with a zip line more exciting than the previous one! There are over 40 crossings/obstacles which include, rope ladders, net bridges, Tarzan swings and 6 zip lines. 

For your planning purposes, the course takes about 2-3 hours to complete but there is no limit on the time it takes your group to complete the course, as long as all the gorillas are off the course before the sun sets.

Item Special Note

The Go Ape Treetop Adventure Course does require a degree of physical fitness but if you can climb up a rope ladder you should be fine. Although, we do have some participant restrictions we created to ensure you have a fun safe experience on the course. The restrictions for an individual and the supervision ratio are:

Participant Requirements:

Minimum Age: 10 years

Minimum Height: 4 ft 7 in (55 inches)

Maximum Weight: 285 lbs (subject to harness fit)

Required Supervision: One participating adult (18+) is required to supervise up to two 10-15 year olds. Participating adults may not supervise from the ground. *** 16 and 17 year olds do not require a participating adult. They require a waiver signed by either their legal guardian or an adult (18+) who has obtained permission from their legal guardian.

All items must be picked up March 6th, 7th, 8th, 11th, 12th, or 13th , 9am-4pm at the CMOM administrative office.
