Item Description

Skagen is a small fishing village at the tip of Jutland that became an important artists’ colony at the turn of the 19th century. At the Skagen Museum you can see Danish art at its finest, definitely a must-do for anyone visiting Denmark. In its three locations, the museum not only displays its wonderful collection of iconic masterpieces, but also tells the personal stories of the world-famous painters who gathered and worked in the artists’ community. It describes the culture of the colony during its peak in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Included in the auction package are combination entry tickets for six persons to Skagens Museum and the former residences of the artists Michael and Anna Ancher and Holger Drachmann, a special private tour of the main museum led by one of the curators, two books in English that give even more insight into the lives and work of the “Skagen painters,” and a generous gift card in the amount of 1500 Danish crowns to be used in the beautiful museum shop.
