Item Description
Get this collectible 1993 Pete Fountain Commemorative Postal Cachet, Pete Fountain is known for his vibrant clarinet and his appearances at the Jazz Fest as well as his Mardi Gras group, the "Half Fast Marching Club". This cachet features teal foil print with geometric luminance and a wonderful pen and ink collage of Fountain by Dick Bobnick. The postmark features hands on a clarinet. Total production: 2500.
The U.S. Post Office issues specialized commemoratives for important cultural contributions that are uniquely American. In 1989 the Post Office issued its first Jazz Fest cachet and has issued one every year since, each one featuring a New Orleans jazz artist. The cachets are highly sought after, and the value as collectable and framed piece increases every year. Cachets are preserved through a cardboard insert to keep them rigid, and a clear cover to keep out moisture.
