All night jam sessions locking horns with James Carter and the great Larry Smith, workshops with the legendary Marcus Belgrave, and his weekly residency at Bert's Marketplace honed his chops Detroit-style.

Since then, he has performed in jazz clubs around the globe--Birdland NYC, Birdland (Vienna), Half Note (Athens), Fasching (Stockholm), The Green Mill, Nefertiti (Goteborg), The Derby (LA), Dakota (St. Paul) to name a few.
Mark has played orchestra pits for the Broadway shows Hairspray and All Shook Up, Smokey Joe’s Café (Off-Broadway), and has appeared on the TV show Mark Twain Prize for Humor (PBS) and radio, A Prairie Home Companion.
