Description
(1-2 hours) A behind-the-scenes tour of the La Brea Tar Pits excavation site led by Mrs. Campbell's husband, Sean Campbell, one of La Brea Tar Pit's fossil excavators. He will show you how paleontologists are digging up evidence of animals, plants, and insects from the Pleistocene every day!
Winners will be provided free parking & tickets to explore the rest of the museum with their families after the tour. This event will take place on a Saturday and requires the winner's family to arrange transportation to the museum. The student winner can bring 1-2 family members along for the tour, but it is an active excavation site so all safety protocols must be adhered to and the museum may restrict or limit access to portions of the site.
