About the Art:
9in x 12in panel
"The effortless flow of an experienced brushstroke, the pop from a perfectly reproduced color and value, the overall cohesion of a piece that was thoroughly understood by its creator before it was created; these are the traits that require, among other things, an exhaustive amount of raw experience and repetition to develop.
With limits ranging from 5-20 minutes per study pose, there is no time to think, only to do - so motions become more efficient, pigment use becomes more intentional, and the various shapes to reproduce become more global to the piece itself than to the individual aspects. Perhaps, most importantly, the mind begins to think in terms of accurat ecompletion before even starting. It is, in my opinion, one of the best possible ways to target and improve on all aspects of one's artwork at once.
What you see here are some of the highlights from my ongoing efforts to incorporate those characteristics and many more into everything I paint. I hope you find these study pieces enjoyable in their most natural form - fresh off the easel and signed with pride." - Paul Moreau
About the Artist:
Paul Moreau is a Laconia native and has been an artist as long as they can remember. About 10 years ago Paul began painting with oils and hasn't looked back since. Color and value interactions are endlessly fascinating to Paul, who says "My biggest driving force is a slightly obsessive pursuit to create a better illusion. I just really like shiny things. I consider myself fortunate to be a part of the thriving Winnipesaukee art scene and look forward to many years of painting alongside our talented area artists."
